On my hope-to-buy soon list, is the new biography of Robert Ryan by J.R.Jones who was interviewed by writer/historian,Alan K.Rode at the Arthur Lyons Film Noir Festival in May,2015.
One of the many excellent interviews which can be viewed on the Film Noir Foundation site at http://filmnoirfoundation.org
The 25 minute discussion took place after a screening of ON DANGEROUS GROUND.
Mr Jones said that Robert was proud of THE SET-UP,INFERNO and THE NAKED SPUR.
He describes Robert Ryan as a very private person who didn’t think the public should know anything about him except what’s on the screen.
There is an earlier biography of Robert Ryan – by Franklin Jarlett, from 1997. This one is pretty expensive on Amazon.
As a Ryan fan, I hope to get both books sooner or later.
Below are shots from some of my favorite Ryan films.

Thanks,Mike. I’ve just ordered the new biography of Henry Hathaway so that should be good too.
I’ll have to look into that one. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
