DONT MIX THEM UP

I’ve been a fan of HIS KIND  OF WOMAN (1951) for a long time – it’s Mitchum,it’s Russell, it’s Price – with Charles McGraw and Raymond Burr thrown in for good measure.

But I didn’t know there’s a title called HER KIND OF MAN (1946) which stars Dane Clark,Janis Paige,Faye Emerson  and Zachary Scott. No relation to the Mitchum/Russell movie, but worth watching I’d imagine just for these principals. Can’t find it anywhere.

And what about MEN WITHOUT NAMES (1935)  and WOMEN WITHOUT  NAMES (1940). Both Paramount titles, the first is an early Fred MacMurray film in which Fred is an undercover Government agent; the second the story of a couple (Ellen Drew and Robert Paige ) being framed for murder. Neither seem to be available though I will be watching  on You Tube the 1931 version of  Women Without  Names, called LADIES  OF THE BIG HOUSE.

The 1931 film stars Sylvia Sidney.

Louise Beavers  played the same role in both the 1931 and the 1940 films.

And so it continues – finding films one has never heard of – and then not being able to view them!

  1. I have seen WOMEN WITHOUT NAMES
    and it’s very good.
Never heard of MEN WITHOUT NAMES but would
    really like to see it.
Both these films were Paramount titles now owned by
Universal. (Universal own the pre1949 Paramount titles)
The Paramount B Crime Thrillers from the mid Thirties-
Early Forties are wonderful-especially the ones directed by
    Robert Florey or Louis King.
Other wonderful Paramount B’s to look out for are as follows:
PERSONS IN HIDING,ILLEGAL TRAFFIC,TIP OFF GIRLS,
PRISON FARM,QUEEN OF THE MOB,PAROLE FIXER and
    KING OF ALCATRAZ.
Universal should really get TCM to put a box set out of these
    fast moving,high energy B Films
