London’s Victoria & Albert museum are lending over 100 items from Vivien Leigh’s personal archives to the National Trust . The Trust will display them at Nymans ( in West Sussex) .
Nymans, now run by the Trust, was the home of Oliver Messel,Vivien’s favorite costume and set designer.
The exhibition will include costumes, photos, scripts, diaries.
It runs from 1st June, 2016 to 4th September,2016.
The touring exhibition was in York in 2015 , and I am hoping it might reach Scotland eventually.
The Leigh Archive is available for research in the Reading Room at the Victoria and Albert Museum,Blythe house, West Kensington,London.
One of the exhibits is a telegram from Norma Shearer after Vivien had won the role of Scarlett in Gone With The Wind:
“May I be the first to express my wholehearted good wishes.”
