STRICTLY BETTE AND JOAN

An accumulation of BETTE DAVIS and JOAN CRAWFORD images has built up and I thought it was time that I shared them.

So strictly for Bette and Joan  fans. – and who isn’t !

Magazine covers, ads, foreign posters, portraits, publicity.

Imagine  if MGM and Warners had come to some arrangement for their two stars to be in the same picture in the 1930s or 40s.

Dream time!

Also, it has been announced that Jessica Lange and Susan  Sarandon will play  Joan and Bette in FEUD which is due in 2017.

The  series will be set around the filming of WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE.

Alfred Molina will be director Robert Aldrich, and Stanley Tucci will play Jack Warner. Judy Davis will be Hedda Hopper.

Was there a feud, or was it just great publicity.

  1. One of the many reasons why they did not like each other they were both strong willed women and both were Aries. Back in 1935 while Bette Davis was filming Dangerous her leading man was Franchot Tone who at the time was married to Joan Crawford and their were rumors that Bette and Franchot were more then just friends. Crawford admired Davis for her talent and Davis admired Crawford for her beauty. While filming Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte when Davis would come the set it would be just her while Crawford arrive with an entourage. It was Crawford’s idea to costar with Davis and suggested they the novel Whatever Happened To Baby? by Henry Farrell be used. Since financing was tough to get finally a subsidiary of Warner Bros called Seven Arts. Since money was tight both actresses took little cash upfront and were to receive a certain percentage of the profits. Since the film was the sleeper of 1962 both Davis and Crawford made a fortune.
