I’m delighted the 2018 Glasgow Film Festival ( in February/March) is honouring Ida Lupino who was born one hundred (!) years ago.
In the thread called IDA LUPINO: ON DANGEROUS GROUND, 5 films will be shown – THE BIGAMIST, HIGH SIERRA,THE HITCH-HIKER, MOONTIDE, OUTRAGE.
Ida appears in 3 and directs 3.
And if you are wondering where On Dangerous Ground is, so am I!
It seems odd to leave out this superb film, with the great Bernard Hermann score .
And if I had a choice, I would love to have also seen ROAD HOUSE. But it will be such a pleasure to see these films on the big screen.

With Jean Gabin. MOONTIDE

Frank Lovejoy, Edmund O’Brien and William Talman in backseat. THE HITCH-HIKER.
Maybe asking too much, but a double bill of On Dangerous Ground and Road House would have showed Ida in two very contrasting roles – the hard boiled lounge singer in Road House and the quiet, blind woman living an isolated life in upstate New York in On Dangerous Ground.

Also screening at at the Festival are two must-see documentaries.
“BOMBSHELL:THE HEDY LAMARR STORY.”
This documentary has rare audio footage of Hedy discussing her life and her scientific inventions.

“ROD TAYLOR,PULLING NO PUNCHES.”
Rod Taylor was interviewed for the film in 2012, several years before his death in 2015.
Rod’s films included THE TIME MACHINE, THE VIP’S, THE BIRDS, and one of my favourite westerns, THE TRAIN ROBBERS.

That may not be the exact lineup of IL movies you (or for that matter I) might have chosen, but I’m still jealous jealous jealous you’re getting the chance to see them on the big screen!
I understand your jealousy! It’s the way I feel reading about TCM or Noir Film Festivals in America.
But to call a theme,On Dangerous Ground and not show that great film is frustrating.
