STARRING BARBARA STANWYCK

London is the place  to be for all Barbara Stanwyck fans in February and March. The National Film Theatre is showing 23 of Barbara’s films, from pre-codes to comedies, dramas and westerns. I hope the fans turn out in droves!

Shame only Londoners get to see this great season on the big screen.

How many can you identify from the following photos?

Barbara is quoted as saying, “Put me in  the last 15 minutes of a picture and I don’t  care what happened before…….I’ll take it in those 15 minutes.”

  1. Vienna, Barbara Stanwyck is one of my favorite actresses of all-time. She could handle any genre, but the Western was her personal favorite. I envy people living in the London area, because they would be able attend these great Classic Movies on the big screen.

This is quite a challenge to name the movies these photos are taken from, but I will try my best:

    1. CLASH BY NIGHT(1952)
    2. THE BITTER TEA OF GENERAL YEN(1932)
    3. FORBIDDEN(1932)
    4. DOUBLE INDEMNITY(1944)
    5. ALL I DESIRE(1953)
    6. BABY FACE(1933)
    7. REMEMBER THE NIGHT(1940)
    8. SORRY, WRONG NUMBER(1948)
    9. FORTY GUNS(1957)
    10. THE FILE ON THELMA JORDON(1950)
    11. STELLA DALLAS(1937)
    12. THE MIRACLE WOMAN(1931)
    13. GOLDEN BOY(1939)
    14. NIGHT NURSE(1931)
    15. BABY FACE(1933)
    16. THE STRANGE LOVE OF MARTHA IVERS(1946)
    17. NO MAN OF HER OWN(1950)
    18. ANNIE OAKLEY(1935)
    19. THE MAD MISS MANTON(1938)
    20. MEET JOHN DOE(1941)
    21. UNION PACIFIC(1939)
    22. BALL OF FIRE(1941)
    23. THERE’S ALWAYS TOMORROW(1955)

I’m not sure about a couple of them, so I guessed.

  2. Vienna, I guessed on THE MIRACLE WOMAN and guessed wrong. Also, I guessed on NO MAN OF HER OWN and guessed right, apparently.

I’ve seen a lot of Barbara Stanwyck movies and TV over the years.
