Farewell to Tommy Rall who has died at aged 90.
A terrific dancer in KISS ME KATE, SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS, MY SISTER EILEEN. A fine singer too.
Thinking about Tommy’s brief film career, it’s a shame he didn’t make more films , and not just musicals.

With Ann Miller, Bob Fosse and Bobby Van. Kiss Me Kate .

The wonderful Tommy Rall. A pleasure to watch in all those titles you mention Vienna. I wonder what happened to THE SECOND GREATEST SEX (1955) Haven’t seen this since TV in the 60s. R I P Mr Rall
Haven’t seen that 1955 film. IMDB has mixed reviews.
Tommy was on Broadway in the I’ll fated musical JUNO with Melvyn Douglas and Shirley Booth. Based on Sean O’Caseys Juno And The Paycock, with a wonderful score by Marc Blitzein. Audiences today might accept a bleak show with an unhappy ending but not in the fifties.
Also in CRY FOR US ALL Jim in 1970. It only lasted for 8 performances…
He also was a lead dancer and understudy in Ethel Merman’s “Call Me Madam” on Broadway.
Would love to have seen Shirley Booth and Melvyn Douglas.
I loved him in Kiss Me Kate. He was such a skilled dancer!
Kiss Me Kate was perfect
wonderful dancer, apparently he also was an opera singer and sang at the New York City Opera. later in his life he became a visual artist. how wonderful that he dedicated his life to art.
Yes, I was surprised to read about his singing opera. That was something I never heard mentioned during his film musical career.
