Roddy died quite a few years ago. Lauren Bacall writes movingly of his final days in her autobiography.
Even from when you did your fine posting on Welles and radio drama, I wanted to add to this list Peggy Webber. This is now the perfect opportunity as someone still alive in her 90s. Though mostly unsung, she is a superb actress who made memorable Hitchcock’s “The Wrong Man” with her great scene as the frightened, yet outwardly polite insurance clerk. Her face in that scene, is emblazoned on my mind. The radio dramas part, is because she founded a company producing them, that to my knowledge is still going strong in Los Angeles – as is Peggy. Greg
Peggy Webber is a name I don’t know. She has had quite a career, mainly on radio but she appeared in so many TV shows in the 50s.
Thank you for telling us about her. I hope I can find some of her appearances.
Thanks for looking her up – never a big name I realize, but a far better actress than most who were and are.
She might have been on an earlier list, but I believe that Gena Rowlands is also still with us.
And has Joanne Woodward been included yet?
Thanks for these extra names. I think I’ll stop now. It’s just good to know so many performers are still with us.
